The Women's Studies Minor

The Women's Studies Program offers a 15-credit minor that complements many undergraduate majors. To complete the minor all students are required to take WOST 121, Introduction to Women's Studies, and four other courses (12 credit hours) offered by the Women's Studies Program.

Associate of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts:
Women's Studies Concentration

The associate degree is a two-year program consisting of a core of 27-30 credits. Students who wish to earn a concentration in Women's Studies are required to take WOST 121, Introduction to Women's Studies, and four other courses (12 credit hours) offered by the Women's Studies Program.

Along with the required 12 credit hours in Women's Studies, students must also take a core of 27-30 credit hours distributed across the following areas: communication (ENGL 103 or ENGL 104 and 105), science and mathematics (6 hours), the humanities (9 hours), social sciences (9 hours).

In addition, students are required to take 18 credit hours in other electives.

Associate of Arts, Women's Studies concentration
(63-66 credit hours)

1. Communication (3-6 credits)

  • ENGL 103 - Advanced Freshman Composition
    OR
  • ENGL 104/105 - English Composition I & II

2. Science and Humanities (6 credits)

3. Humanities (12 credits)
One introductory course in each of three following:
philosophy, history, literature, aesthetics

4. Social Studies (12 credits)
One introductory course in each of three following:
sociology, psychology, communication, political science.

5. Women's Studies core (3 credits)

  • WOST 121 - Introduction to Women's Studies

6. Women's Studies electives (12 credits)
Four from:
