The University Purdue University Calumet, with roots dating back to the World War II era, is part of the internationally respected Purdue University system. In 1946, credit academic classes were first offered at the institution that has grown into Purdue University Calumet. The university is academically comprehensive with an enrollment of 9,600+ students.

The Campus Purdue Calumet's 167-acre, 16-building, attractive neighborhood campus is located in Hammond, Ind., less than a mile north of Interstate 80/94, within three miles of the Indiana/Illinois state line and 25 miles southeast of downtown Chicago. Purdue Calumet offers apartment style student houses in The University Village. Additionally, classes are offered off-site at The Academic Learning Center, some 20 miles southeast in Merrillville, Ind.

Academics Purdue University Calumet offers associate, baccalaureate and master's degrees in 100+ fields of study including traditional Purdue strengths, such as engineering which is U.S.News & World Report recognized. Numerous professional certificates and post-baccalaureate programs are also available. More than 38,000 Purdue degrees have been awarded at Purdue University Calumet. Effective Fall 2008, Purdue University Calumet will be one of few universities nationally to require experiential learning curricular components by all undergraduate students.

The Students Nearly 93% reside in Indiana; Minority students comprise more than 30% of the total body. Some 300 international students also attend. Female students comprise 57% of the student body, and males comprise 43%.

Faculty Distinguished faculty known for academic excellence and professional achievements are committed, not only to teaching, but also to mentoring students. Faculty engage students in research as early as the freshman year. The student faulty ratio is 21 to 1.

Alumnae Purdue Calumet graduates work in all 50 states and around the world. They continue their tradition of involvement with family, career, their local community and Purdue Calumet.
