May 30 is registration deadline for ‘Historic Waterways Trip’
May 30 is the deadline to register to partake on a historic trip through the three-state Middle Mississippi region, June 23-27.
Participants will experience the Mississippi River’s vast history with stops at: the Cahokia Mounds Indian settlement, Black Hawk State Historic Site, Starved Rock State Park, John Deere Pavilion, Rock Island Arsenal, Mormon Nauvoo, Lewis and Clark Camp Dubois, and the St. Louis Archway and Museum of Westward Expansion.
Offered as a non-credit course experience through Purdue Calumet’s Office of Distance Education & Extended Learning (DEEL), the trip is designed to increase participants’ environmental awareness and historical knowledge of the Mississippi River and nearby towns.
The $475 fee covers four nights of hotel accommodations, most meals (five dinners, four lunches and continental breakfasts), and guided tours.
Purdue Calumet Assistant Professor of History Wendy St. Jean will lead the trip.
