Traditional Research Focus
PURPOSE
These projects are intended to provide faculty members in the School of Liberal
Arts and Social Sciences with funding to be used toward the completion of scholarly
research projects involving student assistance. The faculty and students
involved in these projects will present the results of their work at the LASS
Spotlight.
CRITERIA for Proposal Acceptance
It is expected that the project for which funding is being sought will:
- Address an important issue or problem relevant to the faculty member's field of study.
- Actively involve student(s) in the project so that they may benefit academically from their contribution.
- Produce an end product that will make a significant scholarly contribution to the field of study.
- Be undertaken during the 2004 calendar year.
- Upon completion, the expectation will be that the research findings will be published, presented,
or otherwise disseminated to peers in the larger academic community, preferably in a traditional
peer-reviewed forum. Future funding opportunities will be partially dependent upon such dissemination
(or demonstration of attempts at such dissemination, such as submissions to academic journals).
