Spring 2008 Spotlight — Announcement

RE: 2008 Spotlight on Scholarship and Applied Student Research

I am very pleased to announce that the spring LASS Spotlight on Scholarship is scheduled for Friday, April 11, 2008, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at The Calumet Conference Center. We will be serving a continental breakfast and full lunch; mark your calendars now to reserve the date!

You will have an opportunity to hear from your fellow LASS faculty who received scholarly releases for 2007-08, and the students who participated in student-faculty research projects will have an opportunity to present their research as well. An outline of the scope and procedures is available for download. Presentations may present a finished piece, or describe a work/project in progress. All presenters need to complete a Spotlight Information Sheet and provide an 800-1000 word project summary which describes the research project. Any unavoidable absences must be approved by the appropriate department head.

"Meet the Authors" session -- Display your publications and interact with your colleagues!

If you received a scholarly release and will be a presenter, please submit your project summary as soon as possible, but no later than Friday, April 4. Please submit them electronically via email to the LASS Dean. The abstracts will be distributed at the Spotlight, so please include your e-mail address and/or your office phone number in your abstract so your colleagues will have the opportunity to contact you for additional information.
