Microsoft License Agreement

Purdue University and Microsoft Corporation have entered into an agreement for volume licensing of commonly used Microsoft software. The Microsoft Campus Agreement (MSCA) licenses these products for use on all University owned or leased computers at the West Lafayette, North Central, and Calumet campuses. Under the terms of the agreement, the University may install any version of several Microsoft software products on University owned or leased computers without any additional license expense to the University or the departments.

Personal Use

The Microsoft Campus Agreement (MSCA) allows each eligible Purdue faculty and staff member and each student to use selected software products on one computer he or she owns, for University-related work. The cost of the Microsoft software licenses is covered by the agreement but distribution media (CD-ROMs) must be purchased from an official University source. See http://www.itap.purdue.edu/support/licensing/sitelicense/msca/eligibility.cfm for eligibility criteria. Each person who wishes to buy Microsoft software media must sign a form to certify his or her eligibility and to accept the terms of the MSCA and associated University policies. A valid Purdue identification card must also be presented for each purchaser

The Microsoft software may be distributed to and used only by persons who agree to abide by the MSCA's restrictions (summarized below), applicable License Agreement terms (see the web page at http://www.microsoft.com/Education/license/terms.asp), and applicable University policies.

Faculty and Staff

  • Microsoft Corporation licenses all software made available through the MSCA.

  • As a Purdue faculty or staff member, you may purchase one (1) copy of the media for each MSCA software product. The product may be installed and used, for University-related activities, on one (1) computer that you own or lease.

  • MSCA software may not be duplicated, sold, rented, leased, loaned, given, or otherwise transferred to another person or organization.

  • Products made available through the MSCA are licensed only for use during the term of the agreement. If the MSCA is terminated or is not renewed by the University, you are required to remove the software from the computer on which it is installed or else purchase a license for each product.

  • Except for emeritus and emerita retirees, if your status as a Purdue faculty or staff member ceases, you are required to remove the software from the computer on which it is installed or else purchase a license for each product.

  • MSCA software may not be reverse engineered, decompiled, or disassembled.

  • Each software product is licensed as a single product. Its component parts, if any, may not be separated for use on more than one computer.

  • MSCA software is subject to U.S. Department of Commerce export controls (see the web page at http://www.microsoft.com/exporting/).

Students:

  • Microsoft Corporation licenses all software made available through the MSCA.

  • As a Purdue student, registered for at least one credit-offering course, you may purchase one (1) copy of the media for each MSCA software product. The product may be installed and used, for University-related activities, on one (1) computer that you own or lease.

  • MSCA software may not be duplicated, sold, rented, leased, loaned, given, or otherwise transferred to another person or organization.

  • If the MSCA is terminated or is not renewed by the University while you are still a student, you are required to remove any software acquired under the MSCA from the computer on which it is installed or else purchase a license for each product.

  • If you graduate or leave Purdue University while a Microsoft Campus Agreement is still in effect, you are granted a perpetual license for the MSCA products you have installed at that time.

  • MSCA software may not be reverse engineered, decompiled, or disassembled.

  • >Each software product is licensed as a single product. Its component parts, if any, may not be separated for use on more than one computer.

  • Persons acquiring software under the MSCA are not entitled to free telephone support.

  • MSCA software is subject to U.S. Department of Commerce export controls (see the web page at http://www.microsoft.com/exporting/).
