Minor In Chemistry (24 credits)
A Chemistry Minor gives a solid foundation in chemistry while increasing career marketability and options. It is a great complement to a degree in Biology, as it requires only FIVE ADDITIONAL CREDIT HOURS beyond what is already required for a Biology degree.
Required Courses
CHM 115 - General Chemistry I (4 cr)
CHM 116 - General Chemistry II (4 cr)
Chemistry Electives (16 cr) - A minimum of 16 credit hours of chemistry courses beyond general chemistry is required. These credit hours must include both lecture and laboratory courses chosen from two or more areas of chemistry including analytical, biochemistry, inorganic, organic, and physical. Advanced special topic courses and up to 3 credits of CHM 499 (Undergraduate Research) may also be used to fulfill this requirement.
Suggested Curriculum beyond CHM 116:
CHM 261 - Organic Chemistry I (3 cr)
CHM 262 - Organic Chemistry II (3 cr)
CHM 265 - Organic Chemistry Laboratory (2 cr)
CHM 333 - Biochemistry (3 cr)
CHM 3XX - Biochemistry Laboratory (planned for Spring 2003) (1 cr)
CHM 321 - Analytical Chemistry I (4 cr)
