Research Interests
Structural basis for the 2d- and 3d- structures of hyaluronan in solution.
 
Enzymes involved in the age-mediated N-deacetylation of hyaluronan in whole skin and fibroblast cultures.
 
Infrared and Raman spectroscopy studies of heparin, in collaboration with Dr. Hari Garg of Harvard Medical School.
 
Localization of sulfate esters along the dermatan chain, using proton and 13C-nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy of the oligosaccharides generated upon digestion of dermatan sulfate with endoglycosidase enzymes of different specificities.
 
Nuclear magnetic resonance spectroscopy and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy of sulfated oligoxylans, in collaboration with Dr. Audrey Stone of the National Institutes of Health.
 
Sulfatase and sulfotransferase enzymes of proteoglycan metabolism in adult human skin of varying ages (a tissue culture study).
 
The mechanism of action of Hyaluronan Synthase, in collaboration with Dr. A. Serianni of University of Notre Dame.
