Description: A study of interactions which influence distribution and abundance of organisms and the theory which attempts to account for observed patterns in populations, communities, and ecosystems; adaptive strategies of organisms to interactions with other organisms and their environments.  Emphasis on field studies and techniques and methods of sampling in aquatic and terrestrial communities.
